100 Years of Women Voting

Today marks 100 years since Tennessee, the 38th state, ratified the 19th amendment giving women the right to vote.
Much like our history, this day celebrates progress for some, not all. It’s been 100 years and we are still waiting for women’s equality to be enshrined in the US Constitution. I often wonder if the compromises made to pass the 19th amendment are the reason women’s rights stalled so significantly after this momentous milestone.
As we begin our celebrations, today is an important reminder that intersectional feminism is key to building a more equal county.
